Here are some events to check out this week:

Author talk at Kubo LB (August 13)

Hear Gabriella Buba discuss her new fantasy novel "Saints of Storm and Sorrow" at Kubo LB on Tuesday at 7 p.m. Buba will chat with the audiobook narrators Dante Basco and Danice Cabanela. Read more about the book and purchase a signed copy priced at $20 here.

Taste of Downtown (August 14 to 15)

Enjoy bites from different restaurants Downtown during DLBA's Taste of Downtown event. The event will take place on the Waterfront between Shoreline Village and Pine Avenue from 5 to 9 p.m. While the event itself is free, taste tickets will need to be purchased to sample drinks and bites of food. Tickets will be sold in packages, 15 tickets for $17.85 after fees. In addition to sampling from restaurants like Parkers' Lighthouse  and Gladestone's, there will be a live DJ, free lawn games and arts and crafts and a bike valet provided by Pedal Movement. Got Your Back (August 18)

Got Your Back, a community event that brings together different vendors in the comfort of a backyard will have its final backyard get together of the summer on Sunday, Aug. 18 from 1 to 6 p.m. Admission is priced at $5 and food and drinks will be available for purchase. Art and music will also be featured. Don't miss out on this celebration to the end of summer and follow Got Your Back for future events.

Ongoing

  • Long Beach Food Scene Week will run until Sunday, Aug. 18. Different restaurants around Long Beach will offer special menus for the week at discounted prices. To find the full list, click here.

Tuesday

  • Moonlight Movies will screen Mamma Mia! on Tuesday at Granada Beach at sunset, scheduled to be between 8 and 8:30 p.m. The event is free, food and kettle corn vendors will be on sight, but attendees can also bring their own food.

Wednesday

  • The Road Kill Kings will perform a free concert at Los Cerritos Park at 6 p.m. on Wednesday. Bring dinner to enjoy a picnic with the live performance.
  • Roe Seafood will host a five-course meal with a wine pairing in collaboration with Railsback Frères. The dinner is priced at $161.90 (after fees) and details on the menu can be found here.

Saturday

  • The Golden Sails Hotel will host a Psychic and Healing Arts fair including tarot readings, astrology readings, energy healing and more. Details can be found here.
  • Tap 24 Bar & Grill will have a Spirits Showcase on Saturday from 3 to 7 p.m. where attendees can sample, learn and mingle with spirit enthusiasts. Tickets are priced at $55.20 after fees.
  • Create a unique organic body fragrance at Fair Trade Long Beach Retail Collective this Saturday at noon. Tickets are prices at $23.18 after fees and will include the necessary instruction and materials.

Sunday

  • Roxanne's will have a rum social this Sunday starting at noon. Enjoy over 10 rum tastings, live music, and food. Tickets start at $25 and can be found here with more details.
  • The Aurora Theater will host a spoken rhythm and soul poetry workshop Sunday at 3 p.m. The event will include writing prompts and an open mic with performances from Tommy Domino and Lucas Rivera. Tickets are priced at $23.18 after fees.
