Police ask for help identifying hit-and-run driver who killed man in Wrigley
Police believe the driver of a black sedan was one of three vehicles that hit the pedestrian earlier this month.
Police are asking for the public's help in identifying a vehicle and driver involved in a hit-and-run crash in Wrigley that killed a man earlier this month.
Long Beach police say the driver of a black sedan with window tint and chrome trim was heading northbound on Pacific Avenue around 7:24 p.m. on Sept. 13 when it hit a man crossing Pacific. The sedan then turned left onto 19th Street, police added.
Security camera footage released by the LBPD shows a dark sedan in the area immediately after the crash.
Two other vehicles also struck the man: an unknown white SUV that also did not stop, and a 2021 Jaguar that did stop, police said at the time of the crash.
Authorities are asking anyone who may have seen the crash to call LBPD Collision Investigation Detail Detective Johnson at 562-570-7132.
This was the 38th traffic fatality reported by the LBPD in 2026. Last year, the department reported 56 traffic-related fatalities from 53 crashes, making it the deadliest year on the road since at least 1990, when the city reported 51 deaths, according to LBPD data from a public records request by the Watchdog.
There have been 43 traffic fatalities reported in Long Beach so far this year.
