Police arrest suspect in fatal shooting last month

Police arrested a Long Beach man for allegedly shooting another man to death in North Long Beach last month.
Long Beach police said Unrico Sims, 30, fatally shot 33-year-old Kenneth Shannon in the 6500 block of Muriel Avenue on Sept. 2. LBPD officers found Shannon's body the next morning, according to police.
After homicide detectives identified Sims as a suspect in the killing, the LBPD SWAT team served a search warrant at a home in the 1400 block of Chestnut Avenue on Thursday, police said. There, officers found Sims and arrested him, police added.
Sims was booked for murder, according to the LBPD. His bail was set at $2 million.
The motive for the shooting is still under investigation, police said.
LBPD detectives will present the case to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's office for filing consideration, police added.
