Man shot while trying to stop armed robbery, Long Beach police say

Police say the man witnessed someone being robbed around 11:35 p.m. in the 1100 block of Redondo Avenue and tried to intervene.

A man was shot Monday night while trying to stop an armed robbery, according to the Long Beach Police Department.

Police say the man witnessed someone being robbed around 11:35 p.m. in the 1100 block of Redondo Avenue.

He tried to intervene and that’s when the armed robber shot him in the lower body, the LBPD said. The suspect then fled the scene, according to police.

Long Beach Fire Department personnel arrived at the scene and took the man to a local hospital for treatment, the LBPD said. The man’s injury is not considered life-threatening and he is in stable condition, they added.

Gang detectives also responded and the investigation is ongoing, police said.
