Man shot in North Long Beach; suspect arrested, police say
The shooting took place Wednesday night in the 100 block of East Plymouth Street, according to authorities.
A 67-year-old man was arrested Wednesday night on suspicion of shooting another man in North Long Beach, according to police.
Police say Long Beach resident Charles Heard, 67, was arguing with another man in the 100 block of East Plymouth Street.
At some point during the argument, Heard left the area but later returned and shot the man in the upper body, according to the Long Beach Police Department.
Officers responded to the shooting just after 8 p.m. and took Heard, who was still at the scene, into custody on suspicion of attempted murder and being a prohibited possessor with a firearm, according to the LBPD.
The man who’d been shot was taken to a local hospital for treatment, police said, adding that his wound was not considered life-threatening.
It’s unclear what sparked the argument or whether there was a relationship between the two men. The 67-year-old is currently being held on $1 million bail, police said.
