Man dies a year after crash near CSULB, police say
The crash happened March 24, 2024 at the intersection of Studebaker Road and Atherton Street, police said.

A man who suffered critical injuries in a crash near Cal State Long Beach in March 2024 has died, police announced Tuesday.
Long Beach police said the man was riding a 2022 Yamaha motorcycle southbound on Studebaker Road around 8:51 p.m. on March 24, 2024. As he was riding, he collided with a 2011 Hyundai car that was making a left turn from northbound Studebaker Road onto westbound Atherton Street, according to the LBPD.
Long Beach Fire Department personnel took the motorcyclist to a local hospital, where he was listed in critical condition, police said.
The motorcyclist, identified as Leonard Tanguay, 70, of Long Beach, has been hospitalized since the crash, police said. Tanguay died of his injuries on March 31 of this year while being treated at a medical facility, according to authorities.
At this time, the LBPD said it does not think speed, impaired driving or distracted driving were contributing factors in the collision.
Police ask anyone who may have information on this collision to contact LBPD Detective Joseph Johnson at 562-570-7355.
