The driver of the Chevrolet Silverado failed to stop after striking the pedestrian near the area of Anaheim Street and Orange Avenue, police said.
A man died Saturday night after being hit by a truck while crossing the street just west of MacArthur Park, Long Beach police said.
Police say the man was crossing the street outside of a marked crosswalk near the area of Anaheim Street and Orange Avenue sometime around 11 p.m.
Thatβs when the driver of a newer model Chevrolet Silverado going westbound on Anaheim Street hit him and drove off, according to the LBPD.
Officers responded to the scene where Long Beach Fire personnel were already treating the pedestrian, police said. Despite their efforts, the pedestrian died at the scene, they added.
His identity was not immediately revealed as the Los Angeles County Medical Examinerβs office works to notify his relatives.
Police, meanwhile, are asking anyone who may have more information about the crash to contact detectives at 562-570-7355.
