DA files burglary charges against man accused of posing as salesman to enter dozens of Long Beach homes
Police say 48-year-old Long Beach resident David Silver burglarized several homes across Los Angeles County for more than a year.
A Long Beach man who police say illegally entered dozens of homes in the city while posing as a salesman has been charged with multiple counts of residential burglary.
“For nearly a year, the Long Beach community has been shaken by these residential burglaries,” District Attorney George Gascón said in a statement Wednesday. “No one should have to endure the violation and fear that comes with having their home invaded. Our office is working to ensure justice is served for those who have been victimized.”
Long Beach police say David Silver, 48, first began entering Long Beach homes without permission as early as Aug. 1, 2023.

Posing as a salesman or service worker, Silver visited and knocked on numerous doors in Long Beach, police said. When nobody appeared to be home, the police said the 48-year-old would enter and take jewelry, collectible coins, family heirlooms and money.
Silver is accused of burglarizing at least 24 Long Beach homes, with the latest incident reported on March 26 in the 3100 block of Rutgers Avenue, police said.
Police believe he is also responsible for burglaries in Glendale, Los Alamitos, Torrance, and Cerritos.
During an investigation, detectives identified Silver as a suspect in the burglaries and arrested him while serving a search warrant at his home in the 700 block of Alamitos Avenue, police said.
On Wednesday, the Los Angeles District Attorney’s office filed six counts of residential burglary against Silver.
If convicted, Silver could face life in prison, according to the DA’s office.
Long Beach police said Silver may be responsible for more burglaries across the city that may have gone unreported. Any potential victims or those with information are urged to contact detectives at 562-570-7351.
