2 injured following string of shootings in Long Beach, police say
Both victims were shot in the upper body and are expected to survive, police said.
Two men were injured Wednesday night following a string of shootings across Long Beach, according to police.
The first shooting happened around 8 p.m. in the 2000 block of Pasadena Avenue, according to the Long Beach Police Department.
Police say the victim was sitting in a car talking to a man he knew who was standing outside. At some point, the man standing outside shot the victim and left the area, police said.
Authorities responded and found the man with a gunshot wound to the upper body, police said. He was taken by Long Beach Fire Department personnel to a local hospital and is expected to survive, police said, adding that he refused to give investigators more information about the shooting.

Around the same time, officers responded to a second shooting near the area by the 405 Freeway and the Los Angeles River, police said.
A man was standing outside of a tent in the area when someone shot him in the upper body, police said.
Authorities took him to a local hospital for treatment, according to police, who said his injuries were not life-threatening. Investigating officers were not able to locate a crime scene, police added.
The third shooting happened around 9:19 p.m. in the area of Pasadena Avenue and 20th Street, police said. Nobody was injured in the shooting, police said, but officers found evidence of a crime at the scene.
The investigation, including looking into a motive, is ongoing for each shooting, police said.
