Man shot to death on Anaheim Street, police say
Police say 38-year-old Long Beach resident Josue Manuel Matos was talking with at least one person he didn’t know in the area of Anaheim Street and Ohio Avenue around 6:30 p.m. when he was shot.
Police say they’re investigating a shooting in the area of Anaheim Street and Ohio Avenue Wednesday afternoon that left a man dead.
Long Beach resident Josue Manuel Matos, 38, was talking with someone in the area of Anaheim Street and Ohio Avenue around 6:30 p.m. when he was shot. The Long Beach Police Department could not specify whether Matos was shot by the person he was talking to or someone else as detectives are still working to “determine the circumstances of the shooting,” but said the suspect fled before officers arrived to the area.
At the crime scene, officers found Matos with multiple gunshot wounds to the upper body, police said. Matos was taken by Long Beach Fire personnel to a local hospital where he died from his injuries, police added.
A motive for the shooting is unclear, according to the LBPD. Police are asking that any witnesses who were in the area to contact detectives at 562-570-7244.
