A man was shot early Sunday night in North Long Beach, according to the Long Beach Police Department.

Police say the man was near the area of Atlantic Avenue and Market Street around 7 p.m. when he was shot.

The man, who was not identified by police, told officers he "heard noises" and soon after saw that he was injured, police said. The man then took himself to a local hospital, according to authorities.
