A man was hospitalized Friday night after being stabbed during a robbery in West Long Beach, according to police.
The man was walking in the 2800 block of Gale Avenue around 9:30 p.m. when the suspect approached him, according to the Long Beach Police Department.
The suspect, identified only as a man, then robbed the victim and stabbed him multiple times in the process, police said, adding that he fled before officers arrived.
Long Beach Fire personnel responded to the scene and took the victim to a local hospital for treatment, police said. His wounds do not appear to be life-threatening, they added.
It's unclear if the two men knew each other or if this was a random attack. Police say the investigation is ongoing.
