Long Beach police schedule DUI checkpoint for Thursday
Police say the checkpoint will happen somewhere in the North Divison, which covers most of the city above Wardlow Road.
Long Beach police will hold a DUI checkpoint Thursday night in the cityβs North Division, which covers most of the city above Wardlow Road.
The checkpoint will be active from 6 p.m. on Thursday night to 2 a.m. on Friday morning, according to the LBPD.
Checkpoint locations are chosen based on data that shows where people are more likely to drive under the influence, authorities said.
During the last checkpoint held by the department on Aug. 23, police arrested two people on suspicion of driving under the influence and cited 11 others for driving without a license or driving with a suspended or revoked license.
In addition to alcohol, the LBPD said officers will be checking for drivers who may be driving under the influence of marijuana and prescription drugs.
Drivers convicted of a first-time DUI face having their license suspended and average fines of $13,500, police said.
