1 dead, another injured in shooting near Bluff Park, Long Beach police say
Officers found both men while responding to a call in the 2600 block of Ocean Boulevard early Sunday morning, police said.
Detectives are investigating a shooting early Sunday morning that left one man dead and another injured near Bluff Park, according to Long Beach police.
Police say officers responded to a call in the 2600 block of Ocean Boulevard just before 2 a.m. and found a man there with multiple gunshot wounds to the upper body.
Officers rendered aid to the man until Long Beach Fire personnel arrived and took over, police said.
They then took the man to the hospital for further treatment, police said, adding that his wounds did not appear to be life-threatening.
While investigating the shooting, officers found a man near a homeless encampment who’d also been shot in the upper body, police said.
Despite efforts to save his life, he died at the scene, police said. His identity was not released as authorities work to notify his family.
Homicide detectives are currently looking into the circumstances of the shooting and following leads to identify possible suspects, police said.
