Police arrest suspect in killing of homeless woman

Police arrested a 46-year-old Long Beach man for allegedly fatally shooting a woman experiencing homelessness earlier this month.
Long Beach police say Cedric Frank Barnes allegedly shot 31-year-old Madison Coldiron in the 1900 block of Long Beach Boulevard around 5:19 a.m. on Sept. 7.
Officers gave Coldiron medical aid until relieved by Long Beach Fire Department personnel, police said. She was then taken to a local hospital where she died of her injuries, according to authorities.
After identifying Barnes as a suspect, LBPD detectives located and arrested him in the 600 block of Sunrise Boulevard on Monday, police said.
Barnes was then booked for murder with bail set at $2 million, according to the LBPD.
The motive and circumstances of the shooting remain under investigation, police said.
LBPD detectives will present the case to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's office for filing consideration, police added.
