Woman shot to death in Washington neighborhood, police say
Two other women were injured during the Aug. 9 shooting, according to authorities.
Police are investigating a shooting that left one Long Beach woman dead and two others wounded in the Washington School neighborhood earlier this month.
Long Beach police say 56-year-old Claudine Williams and two other women were shot in the 100 block of East Pacific Coast Highway around 11:25 p.m. on Aug. 9.
LBPD officers gave the women medical aid until Long Beach Fire Department personnel arrived and then took them to local hospitals, authorities said. Williams was taken in critical condition while the two other victims sustained injuries that were not considered life-threatening, police added.
Williams died of her injuries five days later on Aug. 14 according to the LBPD.
The suspect or suspects fled the scene before officers arrived, police said.
LBPD gang detectives do not believe the shooting is "a random act of violence," according to police.
Suspect information, motive and the circumstances of the shooting remain under investigation, police said.
Authorities are asking anyone with information on the shooting to call LBPD Homicide Detectives Reyes and Temblador at 562-570-7244.
