Bixby Knolls stabbing leaves woman hospitalized, police say

Another man was stabbed in Central Long Beach a few hours later in a separate incident, according to authorities.

Police are investigating a stabbing that left a woman hospitalized in Bixby Knolls Thursday night.

Long Beach police say the woman was walking in the 4500 block of California Avenue around 10:36 p.m. when a man approached and then stabbed her. The man then fled the area, police said.

Long Beach Fire Department paramedics took the woman to a local hospital, where she was treated for multiple stab wounds to her upper and lower body, authorities said. The woman is in stable condition, police added.

Suspect information and the motive for the stabbing are under investigation, according to police.

A few hours later, a man was in the 3200 block of Anaheim Street around 3:09 a.m. when he was stabbed by another man, who then fled the scene, police said.

LBFD paramedics took the victim to a local hospital, where he was treated for a single stab wound to his upper body, according to authorities. The man's wound is not considered life-threatening, police said.

The motive, circumstances and suspect information for that stabbing are also under investigation, according to the LBPD.
