Police seek help identifying West Long Beach fatal hit-and-run driver
Police believe the driver of a white truck with a blue trailer and an orange container hit and killed 68-year-old Kevin Moran last month.
Police are asking for the public's help in identifying the driver and truck allegedly involved in a hit-and-run crash in West Long Beach that killed a 68-year-old man last month.
Long Beach police say the driver of a tractor-trailer rig was exiting the parking lot of a restaurant toward Pacific Coast Highway near Canal Avenue around 11:03 p.m. on Sept. 4 when he hit a bicyclist heading westbound.
The driver of the truck continued eastbound and did not stop after the crash, police said.
The bicyclist, identified as Kevin Moran, 68, of Long Beach, died of his injuries at a local hospital the day after the crash, according to authorities.

Police released two security camera images of the alleged truck driver and described him as a man of unknown age who was wearing a yellow reflective safety vest, black shirt, jeans, black hat and black shoes.

Security camera images also released by the LBPD show the truck as having a white tractor with a blue trailer. Police also said the truck had an orange container.

Authorities are asking anyone who may have seen the crash, has dash-cam or security footage in this area around the time of the crash or knowledge of the truck to call LBPD Collision Investigation Detail Detective Paredes at 562-570-7358.
This was the 39th traffic fatality reported by the LBPD in 2026. Last year, the department reported 56 traffic-related fatalities from 53 crashes, making it the deadliest year on the road since at least 1990, when the city reported 51 deaths, according to LBPD data from a public records request by the Watchdog.
There have been 44 traffic fatalities reported in Long Beach so far this year.
