Suspect arrested after SWAT standoff in Bixby Park neighborhood, police say
The suspect and victim in a domestic violence incident had barricaded themselves in a house Wednesday night, according to authorities.
Police arrested a person following a domestic violence incident in the Bixby Park neighborhood that led to a SWAT standoff Wednesday night.
Long Beach police say officers responded to the 100 block of Cherry Avenue following reports of a domestic violence incident around 9:54 p.m.
While officers attempted to de-escalate the situation, the suspect and victim in the incident barricaded themselves inside a residence, according to police.
That prompted the LBPD to call in SWAT personnel, police said. After about four hours, SWAT officers took the suspect into custody without incident.
An LBPD spokesperson declined to give any identifying information, including gender, on the suspect and victim.
There were no injuries reported during the standoff, according to the LBPD.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing, police said.
