Joseph Hernandez, 27, of Long Beach allegedly stabbed a woman on May 28, according to authorities.
A 27-year-old Long Beach man has been arrested for allegedly stabbing a woman in Bixby Knolls last week, police said Thursday.
Long Beach police say Joseph Hernandez allegedly stabbed the woman who was walking in the 4500 block of California Avenue around 10:26 p.m. on May 28.
Long Beach Fire Department paramedics took the woman to a local hospital in stable condition, where she was treated for multiple stab wounds to her upper and lower body, according to authorities.
Hernandez fled the scene before officers arrived, police said.
During their investigation, detectives identified Hernandez as the suspect in the stabbing, according to the LBPD.
Hernandez, who was already in custody for an unrelated incident, was then rebooked for attempted murder, police said.
His bail was set at $1 million, authorities said.
LBPD detectives presented the case to the Los Angeles County District Attorneyβs Office for filing consideration, according to police.
Police are asking anyone with information on the stabbing to call Violent Crimes Detective Derek Bailey at 562-570-7250.
