Motorcyclist killed near El Dorado Park, police say
This is the 46th traffic fatality reported by the LBPD this year.
Police are investigating a crash near El Dorado Park Saturday night that left a dirt bike rider dead.
Long Beach police say a man riding a dirt bike was heading westbound on Spring Street towards Karen Avenue around 6:53 p.m. when a man driving a 2012 Lincoln Navigator turned left onto Karen from the eastbound lanes of Spring and hit the bike.
Long Beach Fire Department personnel determined the dirt bike rider died at the scene, according to authorities.
The identity of the victim is being withheld while the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner works to notify his next of kin, police said.
The driver of the Navigator remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators, according to police.
Though the investigation is ongoing, police said speed appears to have been a factor in the crash.
Authorities are asking anyone who may have seen the crash to call LBPD Collision Investigation Detail Detective Pineda at 562-570-5520.
This is the 46th traffic fatality reported by the LBPD in 2026. Last year, the department reported 56 traffic-related fatalities from 53 crashes, making it the deadliest year on the road since at least 1990, when the city reported 51 deaths, according to LBPD data from a public records request by the Watchdog.
The LBPD reported 46 traffic fatalities by this time last year.
