Renowned sports commentator Joy Taylor celebrated the kickoff of season two of the docuseries "Like a Girl" at the women-owned Watch Me! Sports Bar in Long Beach.

The bar, which emphasizes showing women's spots, was the perfect setting for the event series, which is co-hosted by Taylor and MJ Acosta-Ruiz and highlights the journeys of female athletes and their impact on sports culture.

Reflecting on her career, Taylor says there have been significant changes in the industry since she began as an intern in 2007.

"There weren't a lot of women, particularly in the spaces that I wanted to go into," she said.

While Taylor noted the increased presence of women in front of the camera, she said the business still needs more representation behind the camera and in executive positions.  She hopes executive producing the docuseries with one of her best friends, Acosta-Ruiz, will open more doors for women in the future.

FuseTV held a watch party for the series at Long Beach's first women's sports bar — one of only a handful across the country — Wednesday. While sports bars that focus on women's sports are yet to be commonplace, Taylor believes interest in women's athletics is at an all-time high.

"It's so special to go to a bar for women and sports for women athletes. It's a very unique place," she said. "Hopefully not that unique forever, but happy to bring some [attention] to all the women's sports bars around the country."

"Like a Girl" provides a platform for female athletes to control their narrative. Taylor praised Fuse for its commitment to women's sports, saying, "They were early to the game, giving female athletes a platform to tell their stories."

Season two premieres August 21 on FuseTV.
