Woman dies after being hit by car near Lakewood Village, police say
Police say the woman was crossing the street near the area of Bellflower Boulevard and Centralia Street Wednesday evening when she was struck by the driver of a 2014 Jeep Patriot.
Long Beach police are investigating a crash near the city's Lakewood Village neighborhood that left a woman dead Wednesday evening.
Police say the 52-year-old Long Beach resident Lynette Aguilar was crossing the street near the area of Bellflower Boulevard and Centralia Street Wednesday around 6:30 p.m. when she was struck by the driver of a 2014 Jeep Patriot.
Officers arrived to the scene where they found Aguilar in the roadway being treated for her injuries by Long Beach Fire personnel, police said.
Despite efforts to save her life, Aguilar died at the scene, authorities said.
The 65-year-old driver of the Jeep, meanwhile, remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation, police said.
At this time, police do not believe that speed, distracted driving and impaired driving were factors in the crash, according to the Long Beach Police Department.
Police added that Aguilar was not using a crosswalk when she crossed the street.
