Woman dies 3 days after being hit by car while walking in West Long Beach, police say
The woman was hospitalized in critical condition after being hit by a car on Sept. 4 near Admiral Kidd Park.
A woman has died three days after being hit by a car while walking in West Long Beach, authorities announced Monday.
Long Beach Police say the woman was walking westbound in a crosswalk in the area of Santa Fe Avenue and 23rd Street around 7 a.m. on Sept. 4, when a driver turning onto Santa Fe Avenue hit her.
Officers responding to the scene found the woman lying in the roadway and rendered aid to her, police said.
She was then taken by Long Beach Fire personnel to a local hospital where she was listed in critical condition, according to authorities. She died from her injuries on Sept. 7, police said.
Her identity was not immediately released as the Los Angeles County Medical Examinerβs office works to notify her relatives.
The driver involved in the crash has cooperated with the investigation, police said.
While the investigation is ongoing, police say driving, impaired driving, or speed do not appear to have been factors in the crash.
Police ask anyone that may have witnessed the crash to contact detectives at 562-570-7355.
