The Wicked Wolf cocktail bar to become tea & coffee haven during the day
The transformation of the beloved Wrigley nightspot begins on Halloween.
The Wicked Wolf Cocktail Bar is breaking new ground in Long Beach thanks to owner Thea Mercouffer's vision of a daytime community space. During the day on Oct. 31, The Wicked Wolf will transform into Tea Time Wolf, a tea and coffee house.
Already beloved for its cocktails, nightlife and lively atmosphere, the spot will become a cozy, café-style haven during daylight hours. Customers will be able to unwind with artisan coffee, specialty teas, refreshing non-alcoholic mocktails and a selection of homemade pastries—all within the vibrant yet relaxed charm of The Wicked Wolf, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The idea behind Tea Time Wolf came to Mercouffer as she noticed how the bar's charm was underutilized until nightfall.
"I always thought, why is this space so beautiful and so empty during the day?" she said. Inspired to turn the location into what she calls a "second living room" for locals, Mercouffer hopes the tea house will become a community hub.
In addition to an assortment of teas, coffee and matcha blends, Tea Time Wolf will offer unique treats like chocolate chia pudding, overnight oats and a "secret menu" of other tasty treats. Tea house regulars can also enjoy a rotation of tea sandwiches and classic homemade pastries from The Merchant Bakery, or can bring their own lunch.
Every Wednesday, "Library Day" will provide a quiet, music-free zone for readers and remote workers.
Mercouffer sees Tea Time Wolf as an extension of Wicked Wolf's mission of "cocktails, community, culture." She says her goal was to provide a need for Wrigley's diverse residents, including the area's large medical community.
"We thought we could be that go-to place for lunch breaks or even just a change of scenery," she said, pointing to the need for a relaxed space where locals can unwind during the day.
In addition to its grand opening, Tea Time Wolf will be open Tuesday through Saturday.
The Wicked Wolf is located at 2332 Pacific Ave.
