Suspect arrested in fatal shooting of homeless man in October, Long Beach police say
Police say they believe 55-year-old Hemet resident Al Gene Fisher fatally shot Kendell Williams on Oct. 22 as a result of a dispute between the two men.
A Hemet man has been arrested in connection with a deadly shooting in Long Beachβs Hellman neighborhood in October, according to police.
Long Beach police say Al Gene Fisher, 55, fatally shot Kendell Williams, 36, a homeless man, during a dispute in the 800 block of Alamitos Avenue on the evening of Oct. 22.
Fisher fled the scene before officers arrived, according to authorities. But homicide detectives soon identified him as a suspect and tracked him down Friday in Long Beach.
Police took Fisher into custody on suspicion of murder and possession of a firearm by an ex-felon, according to the Long Beach Police Department. His bail was set at $2 million, police said.
Though Fisher had a firearm in his possession during the arrest, police did not say whether that was the weapon used in the shooting.
Police ask anyone with more information to contact detectives at 562-570-7244.
