With its October grand opening fast approaching, the new Sprouts Farmers Market located near the Traffic Circle is hosting a hiring event next week to fill the over 100 positions expected to be available at the new grocer.

The in-person hiring event is being held Tuesday Aug. 27 at the Long Beach Marriott near the Long Beach Airport where people will be able to apply for jobs at the new store that’s set to open Oct. 11.

Sprouts needs to fill 114 positions, according to a release, and those include positions in the store’s front end as well as its deli, bakery, meat, produce, dairy and other departments. Walk-in applicants are welcome to attend the event that will run from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. but people can apply in advance through the Sprouts website

Sprouts has been rapidly expanding in recent years and now operates 415 stores in 23 states. The Long Beach location will be the first in the city and will take over an old Staples location at the Marina Circle Shopping Center located at the intersection of Ximeno Avenue and Pacific Coast Highway.

The Phoenix-based grocer focuses on “better-for-you” products and has a wide selection of organic, plant-based and gluten-free items.

Construction has been ongoing at the center for the soon-to-open Sprouts location and also for other facade improvements to neighboring shops located inside the center.

Sprouts has three other locations in the area including stores in Lakewood, Seal Beach and Cerritos.

The Long Beach Marriott is located at 4700 Airport Plaza Dr.
