Police arrest man suspected of fatal West Long Beach stabbing
Landon Sandoval, 18, of Long Beach allegedly stabbed another man on June 1, authorities said.
Police arrested an 18-year-old Long Beach resident suspected of fatally stabbing a man in West Long Beach, authorities said Thursday.
Long Beach police say Landon Sandoval, 18, fatally stabbed 22-year-old Arnoldo Andre Garcia Mendoza of Long Beach in the 1800 block of Harbor Avenue around 8:28 p.m. on June 1.
LBPD officers found Mendoza at the scene that night with a life-threatening stab wound and gave him medical aid until relieved by Long Beach Fire Department personnel, authorities said. LBFD personnel then took him to a local hospital, where he died of his injuries, police said.
Sandoval allegedly fled the scene before officers arrived, according to the LBPD.
After homicide detectives identified Sandoval as the suspect, detectives located and arrested him on June 11 in the 1400 block of Parade Street, police said.
Sandoval was then booked for murder, and his bail was set at $2 million, according to authorities.
LBPD detectives will present the case to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's office for filing consideration, police said.
Authorities are asking anyone with information on the stabbing to call Homicide Detectives Ethan Shear and Kelsey Myers at 562-570-7244.
