Man killed in hit-and-run crash along Pacific Coast Highway, police say
Police say the man was crossing the street early Sunday morning when someone in an unknown vehicle struck him and then drove off.
Police say they’re investigating a crash in the area of Pacific Coast Highway and Molino Avenue that left a man dead early Sunday morning.
The man was crossing Pacific Coast Highway northbound outside of a crosswalk around 2:26 a.m. when someone in an unknown vehicle traveling eastbound struck him, according to the Long Beach Police Department.
The impact sent the man from the number two lane to the number one lane, police said, and the person driving the vehicle left the scene.
The man’s body was then struck by the driver of a 2017 KIA Sportage who pulled over and called 911, police said.
Officers were already on their way when the man’s body was then struck for a third time by a white truck, which dragged him east of Molino Avenue, police said.
He was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. His identity was not immediately revealed as the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s office works to notify his relatives.
The driver of the white truck left the scene before officers arrived, police said. Meanwhile the driver of the KIA stayed and cooperated with the investigation, they added.
