The latest round of grants is now available to help put on free community events in Downtown Long Beach.

The microgrant program from the nonprofit Downtown Long Beach Alliance is taking applications for events that would be held between October and next March. Five grants of $1,000 will be awarded to support events that are free and open to the public.

Previous grants have helped fund a pop-up bike repair event, night market, film screening and Q&A, and β€œqueer prom” for LGBTQ teens.

Applications are due by Sunday, Sept. 22. More information, guidelines and a link to the application form can be found here.
