Man wounded in drive-by shooting, Long Beach police say

The shooting happened just before 3 a.m. Sunday in the 600 block of West Anaheim Street, according to police.

Man wounded in drive-by shooting, Long Beach police say

Long Beach police say they’re investigating a drive-by shooting near the city’s Willmore neighborhood that left a man wounded Sunday morning.

The man and a woman were standing outside in the 600 block of West Anaheim Street when they were approached by someone in a vehicle just before 2:50 a.m., according to the Long Beach Police Department.

An unknown suspect in the vehicle then fired at both of them, striking the man in the lower body, police said. The suspect then fled the scene, they added.

Officers responded to the scene to investigate while Long Beach Fire personnel took the man to a local hospital for treatment, police said. The man's wound was not considered life-threatening, according to the LBPD.

Suspect information and motive are under investigation, police said.
