Man shot while walking in Willmore neighborhood, Long Beach police say
Police say the man was walking near the 500 block of West Ninth Street around 7 p.m. when someone shot him in the upper body.
A man was shot Friday night while walking in Long Beach’s Willmore neighborhood, according to police.
Long Beach Police say the man was walking near the 500 block of West Ninth Street around 7 p.m. when someone shot him in the upper body. The area is just east of Drake Park.
Long Beach Fire personnel responded to the area and took the man to a local hospital for treatment, police said, adding that his wound was not considered life-threatening.
Officers canvassed the area for evidence but were unable to locate a crime scene, according to the LBPD. It’s not clear if the man was targeted or struck by a stray bullet, police said.
Suspect information is unknown at this time and a motive remains under investigation, according to the LBPD.
