Police are investigating after a man was shot during an argument in Long Beach’s Willmore neighborhood Sunday night, authorities announced today.

The man was arguing with a group of people near 10th Street and Chestnut Avenue just after 7 p.m. when a woman shot him in the upper body, police said.

Long Beach Fire Department personnel responded and took the man to a local hospital for treatment, police said. He is in stable condition and his injury does not appear to be life-threatening, the department added.

It’s not clear what the man and group were arguing about prior to the shooting. Police said the group, along with the suspect, left before officers arrived at the scene.
