Man shot in struggle for gun during apparent robbery in East Long Beach, police say
Police say the man was walking in the area of Bellflower Boulevard and Willow Street around 10:09 p.m. Wednesday when another man tried to rob him at gunpoint.
A man was shot Wednesday night during a struggle for a gun with a man who was apparently trying to rob him in the area of Bellflower Boulevard and Willow Street, police say.
Long Beach police say the victim was walking in the 2700 block of Bellflower Boulevard around 10:09 p.m. Wednesday when the suspect tried to rob him at gunpoint.
The man fought back against the suspect, and a struggle for the gun erupted between them, police said.
At some point during the struggle, the gun went off and struck the man in the upper body, according to the LBPD.
The suspect left the scene and the victim took himself to a local hospital for treatment, police said. Police did not say how severe the man's injuries were or his condition.
No suspect information was available, according to police, who said the investigation is ongoing.
