Man hospitalized after speeding into pole, parked cars, Long Beach police says

The crash happened Tuesday night near the intersection of Wardlow Road and Lime Avenue, according to police.

A man was hospitalized Tuesday night after crashing into a telephone pole and multiple parked cars near Long Beach’s California Heights neighborhood, according to police.

Long Beach Police say the man was speeding near the area of Wardlow Road and Lime Avenue around 10:30 p.m. when he crashed into a telephone pole and a parked car.

The impact on the car caused it to hit a second parked vehicle, police said.

The severity of the man’s injuries are unclear, according to authorities.

Long Beach Fire officials said in a post online that the man was trapped in the car following the crash.

Video shows firefighters using the “jaws of life” to get the man out of the vehicle.

LBFD personnel then took him to a hospital for treatment, authorities said.

Nobody else was injured in the crash, according to police, who said the investigation is ongoing.
