Man dies after West Long Beach crash last month, police say
Alejandro Munoz, 23, died on Aug. 28, 13 days after his car crashed into a pickup truck, according to authorities.
Police are investigating the death of a 23-year-old Los Angeles man who died after his car hit a pickup truck in West Long Beach last month.
Long Beach police say Alejandro Munoz, 23, was driving a 2017 Cadillac CTS on Anaheim Street near Hayes Avenue around 8:38 p.m. on Aug. 15 when he made a U-turn and hit a 2011 Chevrolet Silverado driving eastbound on Anaheim Street.
Long Beach Fire Department personnel gave Munoz medical aid, then took him to a local hospital, authorities said.
The driver of the Silverado remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators, according to police.
On Aug. 28, LBPD detectives learned that Munoz had died of his injuries, police said Wednesday.
At this time, police said they do not believe impaired driving or distracted driving were factors in the collision.

This is the 35th traffic fatality reported by the LBPD in 2026. Last year, the department reported 56 traffic-related fatalities from 53 crashes, making it the deadliest year on the road since at least 1990, when the city reported 51 deaths, according to LBPD data from a public records request by the Watchdog.
The LBPD reported 39 traffic fatalities by this time last year.
