Man arrested in connection with fatal February shooting in North Long Beach, police say

A 43-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of killing another man in North Long Beach more than six months ago, police announced Thursday.

Long Beach Police say Carlos Salazar and 41-year-old Miguel Rodriguez had an ongoing dispute that ended when Salazar fatally shot Rodriguez in the 6900 block of Paramount Avenue on Feb. 22.

Just a few weeks after the fatal shooting, detectives identified Salazar as a suspect and filed evidence with the Los Angeles County Prosecutor’s office to get a warrant out for his arrest, police said.

Salazar evaded arrest for several months until Tuesday when an Irvine police officer pulled him over during a traffic stop and took him into custody on the outstanding warrant.

He was booked without bail and is waiting to be extradited to Los Angeles County jail, they added.

The Long Beach Police Department did not describe the nature of the dispute between Salazar and Rodriguez.

Police continue to ask that anyone with more information about the fatal shooting contact detectives at 562-570-7244.
