Long Beach police say they're investigating separate early-morning shootings that left two men injured.

The first shooting took place just before 12:30 a.m. in the area of 10th Street and Ohio Avenue, according to the Long Beach Police Department. The area is near the city's Rose Park neighborhood.

There, someone in a vehicle approached a man, got out and fired multiple shots at him, police said.

The gunfire struck the man in the upper body, and the suspect fled the area in an unknown direction, police said.

Authorities responded to the scene and took the man who'd been shot to a local hospital for treatment, according to the LBPD. They added that his injuries did not appear to be life-threatening.

A motive for the shooting is unknown at this time and suspect information is limited, according to police.

The second shooting took place just after 2 a.m. in the 1600 block of West Willow Street in West Long Beach, according to police.

Officers responding to the call found a man with multiple gunshot wounds to the upper body, authorities said.

Few details about the shooting were available as the man refused to cooperate with officers, police said.

He was taken to a local hospital for treatment, according to police, though the extent of his injuries were unclear.
