Police are investigating a shooting in West Long Beach Thursday afternoon that left two men injured, including one in critical condition.

Few details about what led up to the shooting were available as of Friday morning, but it happened around 1:28 p.m. in the 2100 block of Spring Street, according to the Long Beach Police Department.

There, an unknown suspect or suspects shot the men in the area and fled the scene, police said.

One man was taken by authorities to a hospital in critical condition, according to police, while a second man with gunshot wounds to the upper body took himself to a local hospital for treatment, authorities said.

Police did not give details on the condition of the second man.
