1 dead, 10 hospitalized in Alamitos Bay boat crash, authorities say
Early reports indicate speed may have been a factor in the crash, according to LBFD.
One person is dead and 10 others are injured after a boat they were on crashed into the rocks of the Alamitos Bay jetty Wednesday night, according to the Long Beach Fire Department.
Authorities said a 48-foot pleasure boat, which had 11 people aboard, may have been speeding when it crashed into the rocks around 9:21 p.m.
One person was pronounced dead at the scene, LBFD Capt. Jake Heflin said. He was only identified by authorities as a man between 40 to 50 years old.
Ten other passengers were taken to a local hospital for treatment, authorities said, adding that three are in critical condition.
