Woman killed after being hit by car while crossing the street, police say
The 61-year-old driver remained at the scene after hitting the woman, who was in a crosswalk.

Long Beach police are investigating a traffic accident that left a woman dead after being hit by a car while crossing the street at the intersection of Long Beach Boulevard and Willow Street Monday morning, authorities said.
Officers responded to reports of a traffic accident involving a vehicle and pedestrian at 6:45 a.m., according to the Long Beach Police Department. At the scene, they found a woman unconscious in the street.
Bystanders and officers provided medical aid until Long Beach Fire Department personnel arrived and transported the woman to a local hospital where she later died, according to the LBPD.
The woman was hit while walking in a marked crosswalk when a 2005 GMC made a right turn from westbound Willow Street onto northbound Long Beach Boulevard, police said. The driver of the vehicle, a 61-year-old Long Beach resident, remained at the scene, police added.
“At this time, impaired driving does not appear to be a factor in the collision,” LBPD said.
The pedestrian has not yet been identified as the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner notifies the family.
Police ask anyone who witnessed the accident to contact detective Joseph Johnson at 562-570-7355. Anonymous tips can be submitted by calling 800-222-8477, using the “P3 TIPS” app, or at lacrimestoppers.org.
