A 21-year-old woman was fatally shot Friday morning at her Long Beach home, according to police.
Police say the deadly shooting happened in the 900 block of Gaviota Avenue at around 11:42 a.m.
Someone, who police identified only as a male suspect, shot the woman inside her home and then ran away from the area, according to authorities.
Officers responded to the scene and found the woman with a gunshot wound to the upper body, according to the Long Beach Police Department.
“Officers rendered medical aid and attempted life saving measures until being relieved by Long Beach Fire Department personnel,” according to the LBPD.
She was then taken to a local hospital where she died, police said. She was identified by police as 21-year-old Justice Lopez.
A motive for the shooting remains under investigation, according to police. But detectives do not believe this was a random act of violence.
Police ask that anyone with more information contact detectives at 562-570-7244.
