Woman dies after being hit by car along 7th Street, police say
Police say the woman was crossing the street near the intersection of Seventh Street and Stanley Avenue the morning of July 20, when she was struck by the driver of a 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee.
A woman has died after being struck by a vehicle while crossing the near Long Beachβs Rose Park neighborhood earlier this month, authorities said.
Long Beach Police say 33-year-old Johnisha Brown of Long Beach was crossing the street near the area of Seventh Street and Stanley Avenue around 5:21 a.m. on July 20, when the driver of a 2012 Grand Jeep Cherokee traveling eastbound struck her. She was not using a marked crosswalk, they added.
Long Beach Fire Department personnel arrived at the scene and took Brown to a local hospital where she was listed in critical condition, police said.
The driver, meanwhile, remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation, police said.
On Tuesday, the LBPD was notified that Brown had died from injuries, authorities said.
Detectives are currently investigating the crash, but authorities said speed, impaired driving or distracted driving did not appear to be factors.
Police ask anyone with more information to contact detectives at 562-570-7355.
