What's Good, LBC? food markets, an architecture tour and more
This week you can sample Filipino and Latin food, or enjoy a food, art and music festival while helping charity all in Long Beach.
This week is full of tasty events including two food markets, a food festival and a Dia de Los Muertos Fiesta. But if food isn't your thing, there's lots of ongoing spooky season events and educational activities like an architecture tour you can check out.
Here's your weekly round-up:
Filipino American pop-up market (Oct. 12)
2ND & PCH will host a Filipino American History pop-up market on Saturday from noon to 6 p.m. The family-friendly event will have food, activities and vendors showcasing Filipino culture. Live performances will take place from 1 to 3 p.m. RSVP for free here.
Architecture tour (Oct. 12)
Learn more about Long Beach's East Village Arts District on Saturday with an architecture tour starting at 3 p.m. The tour will begin at the Cooper Arms Building and tickets will be $15. These tours will take place on the second Saturday of every month through next May. It will be about two hours and include about a mile and a half of walking.
Sazon Latin Food Market (Oct. 13)
The Sazon Latin Food Market will be this Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at The Promenade North. It's free to attend and different vendors will represent cuisine from all over including South America, the Caribbean, Central America and more. Details can be found here. While the event is free, space is limited and early arrival is recommended.
Ongoing events:
- Dark Harbor is back! The festival will include mazes, live music, themed bars, on-board the Queen Mary experiences, food and more. It will run until Nov. 2. Tickets start at $39.99 and can be purchased here.
- The Passion of Dracula, a new show playing on the Long Beach Playhouse's MainStage Theater will run through Oct. 19. Tickets ($35) can be purchased here.
- From now until Jan. 15, you can play a Pixar-themed mini golf at 2ND & PCH for $25 per person. For tee times and ticket purchase visit here.
- Once a year Long Beach's local artists open their workshops for a free, self-guided open studio tour around the city. From now until Oct. 27, residents can visit over 50 artist workshops around the city. No ticket is necessary and art from local artists will be available for purchase. Find details here.
Tuesday
- Have you been wondering how to improve your pickleball game? You can learn and play at the Marina Vista Courts Tuesday night at 5:30 p.m. Tickets are $12.51. Details here.
Wednesday
- Compound will have a guided meditation class Wednesday night at 6:30 p.m. The event has scaled ticketing ranging from $15 to 35 depending on someone's financial situation. Find details here.
- The Wrigley location of Long Beach Beer Lab is hosting another Dungeons and Dragons night. Tickets are $22.15 and event details can be found here.
Thursday
- Sabor A Mi Cuisine is hosting a paint and sip night on Thursday at 7 p.m. Tickets are $44.52 and include art supplies, pre-sketched canvases, two hour guided painting and a complimentary tequila tasting. Tickets and details here.
Friday
- Fuego at Hotel Maya will have a Dia de Los Muertos Fiesta on Friday at 6:30 p.m. The fiesta will be a four-course Latin-infused meal paired with four Chagual Mezcal specialty cocktails, live music and performances. Saturday
- There will be a Downtown Art Walk on Saturday from 4 to 9 p.m. There will be exhibits, activations, local artists and businesses and more. Details, as well as information on a bike valet, can be found here.
- The 4th annual Halloween Hootenanny will be this Saturday from 1 to 5 p.m. Sample a curated line-up of craft breweries, local wineries, cideries and kombucha makers while enjoying live music, food vendors and Halloween-themed art vendors. General admission is $55 and includes unlimited tastings and a souvenir glass. Details here.
- The Long Beach Food Art & Music Festival is also on Saturday. From 5 to 9 p.m. enjoy food samplings from Long Beach's best known restaurants and pop-ups including Heritage, Gusto Bread, Marlena, Hamburgers Nice, Bar Becky and more. Tickets are $150 and proceeds will benefit Jonathan Jaques Children’s Cancer Institute and Miller Children's & Women's Hospital. Tickets here.
Sunday
- The holiday classic "Swan Lake" ballet will be at The Terrace on Sunday with two showings, a 2 p.m. and a 7 p.m. performance. Ticket prices range from $112 to $155 and can be purchased here.
