Temperatures have been high, but Long Beach is filled with activities this week to brave the swelter. This week, we've curated things to do around town indoors and in the evening to help you beat the heat.

Here are some events to start with.

Long Beach Jazz Festival (August 9-11)

The 35th Annual Long Beach Jazz Festival will return this weekend at Marina Green Park. Tickets range from $91 to $218 depending on seating and number of days. The festival will include both food vendors and merchandise, but festival goers will be allowed to bring lawn chairs and picnic food. More information including the line-up can be found here.

LBX Neighborhood Market (August 10)

The LBX Neighborhood Market will have a "Back 2 School Carnival" on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Over 40 local crafts vendors will be featured, live entertainment and DJs, free face painting and slime station, photo opportunities and more. For food, attendees can pop into the Hangar and choose from one of 13 restaurants in the hall. The event is free, but some things like the slime station will require a reservation.
