Toddler dies after being hit by car in North Long Beach, police say
The 3-year-old boy apparently ran onto Artesia Boulevard Saturday evening, according to authorities.

Police are investigating the death of a 3-year-old boy who was hit by a vehicle in North Long Beach early Saturday evening.
The boy had apparently run onto Artesia Boulevard near Rose Avenue around 6:27 p.m. when he was hit by a vehicle traveling westbound on Artesia, according to Long Beach police.
Officers performed CPR on the boy until Long Beach Fire Department personnel arrived and took him to a local hospital, according to authorities. The boy died of his injuries at the hospital, police said.
The vehicle’s driver remained on scene and cooperated with the investigation, police said.
At this time, police say speed, distracted and impaired driving do not appear to be factors in the collision.

This is 37th traffic fatality reported by the LBPD this year. There were 40 traffic fatalities in the city in 2024, according to police statistics.
