Police arrested a man they said shot someone just west of Poly High School Wednesday afternoon, prompting a SWAT response.

The suspect, according to police, shot another man in the lower body during an argument just before 5:30 p.m. in the 1600 block of Linden Avenue.

By the time officers arrived at the scene, the suspect had driven to a house in the 2000 block of Chestnut Avenue, police said.

Police located the suspect and established a perimeter around the home, but he refused to exit, police said.

The LBPD’s SWAT team responded to the scene in an effort to de-escalate the situation, police said.

Eventually, the suspect surrender and was taken into custody, police said. Police did not identity him or say what he would be booked on suspicion of.

The victim, meanwhile, is expected to survive after being taken to a local hospital, according to police, who said his injury was not life-threatening.

The investigation is ongoing.
