Shooting in North Long Beach leaves man hospitalized, police say

The man was outside in the 6600 block of Atlantic Avenue Wednesday morning when he was shot, according to the LBPD.

Police are investigating a shooting in North Long Beach that left a man hospitalized early Wednesday morning.

Long Beach police say the man was outside in the 6600 block of Atlantic Avenue around 1:23 a.m. when he "heard noises and observed he was injured."

The man took himself to a local hospital, where he was treated for a gunshot wound to the lower body, according to authorities. His wound was not considered life-threatening, police said.

Officers searched the area described by the shooting victim but were unable to locate a crime scene, according to the LBPD.

Suspect information and the shooting motive are under investigation, police said.
