The man was in the 5800 block of Locust Avenue around 10 p.m. Friday when an unknown suspect shot him, according to the LBPD.

Authorities are investigating a shooting in North Long Beach that left a man hospitalized Friday night.

Long Beach police say the man was in the 5800 block of Locust Avenue around 10 p.m. when an unknown male suspect fired a gun, hitting him.

LBPD officers aided the man before Long Beach Fire Department personnel took him to a local hospital, where he was treated for a gunshot wound to his lower body, according to authorities. The wound was not considered life-threatening, police added.

The motive and circumstances for the shooting are under investigation, police said.
