The shooting happened around 8:40 p.m. Thursday at the 5800 block of Myrtle Avenue, according to the LBPD.

Police are investigating a shooting in North Long Beach that left one man injured Thursday night, authorities said.

Long Beach police say they responded to the 5800 block of Myrtle Avenue around 8:40 p.m. following reports of a shooting. There, officers found a man suffering from gunshot wounds to his upper and lower body, according to the LBPD.

Long Beach Fire Department personnel took the man to a local hospital, according to authorities.

The suspect had fled the area prior to officers' arrival, police said.

Officers located evidence of a shooting, but suspect information and the motive for the shooting remain under investigation, according to police.
